Is it actually in tune?
The bars are tuned, so tapping across the row gives a rising scale rather than random clangs. It is a toddler instrument, not a concert one — but it sounds right.
Is it very loud?
It is as loud as the child hitting it, which is the honest answer. Nothing amplifies it and there is no speaker, so a gentle tap is a gentle note.
What if the hammer gets lost?
It happens with every xylophone ever sold. A wooden spoon works, and small hands will use their fingers happily in the meantime.
Can it be cleaned?
Wipe it with a damp cloth. The plastic frame does not mind sticky hands, and nothing needs to come apart.
