Early maths · Ages 3 to 8

Maths they can hold in their hands.

Snap three red cubes onto four blue ones and your child can see, count and touch seven. That is how these cubes turn numbers into something real. Children use them to count, compare, add and take away, and to build patterns by colour. When the lesson is over, the same 100 cubes become towers, animals and robots. They are the same linking cubes children use at school.

What children learn with them

Counting and number sense

Build a tower of 5, then 10. Lay two towers side by side to see which is bigger.

Adding and taking away

Join two towers to add, or snap some cubes off to take away. The answer is right there to count.

Tens and ones

Ten cubes make one stick of ten. Twenty-three becomes two sticks and three loose cubes, which makes place value easy to see.

Colours, sorting and patterns

Sort the 10 colours into groups, or build a red, blue, red, blue pattern and ask what comes next.

Why parents and teachers choose them

Just like school

They are the same kind of cubes used in preschool and primary classrooms, so practice at home matches what your child does in class.

They connect on every side

Each cube has a peg and holes, so it joins in any direction. Children can build straight towers for maths or 3D shapes for play.

Good for small fingers

Pushing cubes together and pulling them apart builds hand strength and coordination, which helps later with holding a pencil.

Learning that turns into play

After the counting, children keep building. A toy they choose to pick up is one they keep learning from.

Questions about these cubes

Is 100 cubes enough?

For one child at home, yes. That is ten in each colour, which is enough for counting to 100, tens and ones, and plenty of building. Classrooms and siblings usually want more.

Are they easy for small hands to pull apart?

They snap together and come apart with a firm pull. Very young children may need help with long towers at first, and they get the hang of it quickly.

How do I start using them for maths?

Start with towers. Ask your child to build a tower of 4 and a tower of 6, then join them and count. Once that is easy, move on to taking cubes away.

Four cubes and three cubes make seven. Once they have built it, they believe it.

Safety: contains small parts. Choking hazard, not suitable for children under 3 years.
