Your child colours it in with the acrylic markers while it is still flat, then brushes water over it — and the foam swells up into a raised, three-dimensional piece with the colour sitting on top. How it works

Colour the flat sheet. Pick a design and fill in the printed areas with the acrylic markers. The numbers tell you which colour goes where, or ignore them and do your own.

Wet it with the water pen. Brush water across the whole sheet. The foam expands and the flat picture lifts into a raised 3D shape.

Dry it and keep it. The colour stays put once dry. Thread the rope through, clip on a keychain, and it goes on a school bag.

Questions about this kit
Is this puffy paint in a pen?
No, and it is worth being clear. The markers are ordinary acrylic paint. The puffing comes from the foam sheets, which are pressed flat and expand when you wet them.
Will a three-year-old manage it?
Probably not on their own. Some areas are small and the colouring takes a while, so younger children lose interest before the water stage. Five and up is the honest answer.
Does the colour survive the water?
Yes — the acrylic stays on the foam as it expands and holds once dry. Let each piece dry fully before it goes on a bag.
How messy is it really?
Low. No paint pots and no glue. Have a cloth to hand for the water stage and that is about the extent of it.
Do the first one alongside them. Watching it rise is half the fun and they will want a witness.
Safety: recommended for ages 5 and up. Contains small parts including keychain rings and marker caps — not suitable for children under 3 years. Supervise play, and keep markers and foam pieces out of the mouth.
